Definition

Noun

  • Personnel assigned (usually by a higher authority) to attempt to board a vessel unauthorized as a test of security measures.

Origin

Unknown. Modern.

Comments

Otherwise known as a penetration test or red teaming. This may not be anything terribly formal, but a superior may simply select someone and order them to attempt to board a vessel that is in port (such as a ballistic missile submarine) as a test of how observant the crew is to outsiders. Gotta keep those nuclear weapons safe.
