Here’s a quick video I threw together of three alarms in the Control Room of the USS Blueback (SS-581).
Note: Only the dive alarm is the genuine sound. The General Alarm and the Collision Alarm are prerecorded sound files that just play from a separate speaker when activated. The activation switches are genuine and note that each has a different knob to distinguish them by touch alone.
Modern sailors will probably note that these are “old school” versions of these alarms (particularly the dive alarm which sounds like a genuine klaxon). The modern alarms have a distinctly electronic sound to them (even the dive alarm on modern U.S. submarines sounds electronic and underwhelming).
